The Central West Ontario Health Team (CW OHT) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Borts has been selected as the new Primary Care Specialist representative for the CW OHT Primary Care Council (PCC), following an election at the October Central West Primary Care Network (CW PCN) Annual General Meeting.
About Dr. David Borts
Dr. Borts graduated from McGill Medical School in 1980 and completed residency training in both internal medicine (1984) and cardiology (1986). He has been a clinical cardiologist serving the community of Brampton for 36 years.
In 2007, he completed an MBA at the Schulich School of Business.
Additionally, Dr. Borts served as Chief of Medicine at Peel Memorial Hospital from 1991 to 1995 and at William Osler Health Centre from 2017 to 2022, spending one year, 2019 to 2020 as Interim Chief of Staff at Osler, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
About the Role
The CW OHT’s Primary Care Specialist will sit on the Primary Care Council, representing specialist perspectives in discussions and initiatives, contributing to key decision-making processes, and developing coordinated care initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.
The role involves attending PCC and Collaboration Council meetings to ensure alignment across teams.
Additionally, the specialist will work to strengthen collaboration between specialists, physicians, and nurse practitioners, fostering an integrated approach to primary care delivery.
