Topic: Low vs. High Risk Pregnancies

Speaker: Dr. Nihal El Khouly

Dr. Nihal Elkhouly was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and pursued a career in medicine at Alexandria University, graduating in the year1994. Following three years of residency training in tropical medicine and earning a master’s degree in the same speciality, Dr. Nihal immigrated to Canada in 1999.

Successfully passing all required medical exams, Nihal completed a residency training at Women’s College Hospital, University of Toronto from 2004 to 2006, followed by a three-month fellowship in low-risk obstetrics.

Since 2007, Nihal has been dedicated to family medicine, running a clinic in Bolton and joining William Osler the same year,  where she practices low risk obstetrics in addition to supporting newborn care and the early pregnancy clinic.

In 2017, Nihal took on the role of the primary care obstetric group lead , furthering a commitment to excellence in patient care more specifically in women’s health. Nihal has been teaching with McMaster University since 2014 and was honored with the **Preceptor of the Year Award** in 2016.

Nihal is on a mission to increase awareness in our community about the services the primary Care obstetrics group provides and to educate the women and their providers about women’s health and the most recent advances.

More recently, Nihal has launched the **Bonita Women’s health and wellness clinic** to empower women in their health journeys during pregnancy, menopause or adolescence.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the session, the participant will be able to:

  1. Highlight pregnancy care in the first 24 weeks and risk assessment for better patient outcome.
  2. How to manage early pregnancy concerns.
  3. Increase confidence of community physicians with early pregnancy management.
  4. Resources available in the community.
  5. Introduce Primary Care Obstetrics Group as a resource for the community physicians.

To receive CME credits, you must:

  1. Register and attend the event
  2. Complete the Speaker Evaluation survey after the session
  3. Complete the Post-Conference questionnaire on the College website
