Dr. Hamant Shah is opened a new Hepatology Consult Clinic at Etobicoke General. The clinic runs on most Wednesday mornings (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) in the Outpatient Medicine Clinic Area on the Lower Level. Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IPCT) Call for Proposals 2026/27 (Round 2)

The Ministry of Health has launched Round 2 of the Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IPCT) Call for Proposals for 2026/27. This funding will expand access to primary care across Ontario, with a goal of connecting 500,000 more people to a primary care clinician or team. As part of the Central West Ontario Health Team’s (CW OHT)’s broader Primary Care Attachment Plan; to bring more primary care closer to home and ensure every resident is attached by 2029, we are actively preparing to submit proposals. COVID Vaccine Ordering Portal Open – Toronto Public Health

Toronto Public Health (TPH)’s COVID-19 vaccine ordering portal is now available. Toronto providers enrolled in the COVID-19 Vaccine Immunization Program can place their orders directly through the online portal at CovidVaccineOrder.ca. Toronto providers should follow the program schedule and launch dates for vaccine administration to eligible populations (i.e. high-risk vs general population). Beginning September 17, 2025, Peel Public Health will mail immunization screening letters to students who require immunizations as outlined in the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA). Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus risk in Peel

EEEv is a rare but severe mosquito-borne illness with a high case fatality rate. Risk in Peel is very low because the primary vector, Culiseta melanura, is rarely found locally due to limited suitable woodland swamp habitat. No horses, mosquitoes, or humans in Peel have ever tested positive for EEEv. Areas of Ontario with suitable habitat, particularly cottage country and eastern regions, are more likely to have EEEv detected in mosquitos and horses in the late summer and early fall. ALERT: Temporary Changes to Rabies Post-exposure Prophylaxis (rPEP) Distribution Due to Shortage

Due to a shortage of rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin (RabIg) in Ontario, Peel Public Health and Toronto Public Health will be immediately and temporarily implementing measures to conserve the remaining supplies of each product. These measures are being taken to ensure that rabies vaccine and RabIg are available for high risk exposures, and to prolong our remaining stock until we receive resupply from the Ontario Ministry of Health (ministry).
